Leads: add team members and arrange the serving you lead

At many churches, one person doesn’t schedule everything. The Youth Service has its own lead, and the worship team and sound team each schedule their own people. In Martha, sit, leads arrange their own serving, without going through an admin every time.

Who’s a lead

An admin assigns leads. There are two kinds:

  • Service lead: Arranges a service’s whole schedule, like the Youth Service lead.
  • Ministry lead: Arranges only the roles linked to their ministry. For example, the worship team lead schedules Worship Leader, Piano, and Drums. The other roles still show, but they can’t be changed.

An admin can go to Settings → Team members, tap a team member, and add a lead role under Church role. Or go to Settings → Services & ministries, open a service or ministry, and tap Assign a lead. A service or ministry can have several leads, all with the same permissions.

Start with “Get started”

Once you’re assigned, a Get started card for your role shows up at the top of Home, like Get started · Youth Service lead. It explains what you can do and lists two things to do first:

  1. Add team members: Add the people who serve with you.
  2. Arrange the schedule: Schedule the serving you lead.

Each one disappears once it’s done. If you’d rather not see the card, tap Don’t show again.

Add team members

Go to Settings → I lead and tap the service or ministry you lead to open its page:

  • Under Team members, tap Add team members, pick people from the whole church list, and tap to add them.
  • When someone stops serving, tap Remove next to their name. Tapped it by mistake? Tap Undo to bring them back.
  • People who came to help and have served here but aren’t team members yet are listed under Served with Youth Service, not on the team yet. Tap Add to team to add them.

The video shows a small group’s page. Service and ministry pages work the same way.

Once they’re added:

  • A service’s team members can see that service’s schedule, and they show up in the list when you pick people.
  • A ministry’s team members can see the ministry’s events when they choose Related to me in the Calendar.

Arrange serving

Go to Schedule and tap Arrange serving at the top right. It puts several weeks in one table. When you’re finished, tap Done, and each team member gets just one notification.

For how to arrange and swap, see Arrange serving: several weeks at once, drag to swap.

What leads can’t do

For these, you’ll still need an admin:

  • Give team members a church role, or remove someone who has one (such as another lead).
  • Change service settings, like adding a role or changing which days you have services.
  • Ministry leads can’t change occasions or reorder the list of people to pick from.
